The Healthy Child Workshops
I have teamed up with Joanna Rushton, a Chef and C.H.E.K. Exercise and Lifestyle Coach to develop the Healthy Child Workshops for parents of toddlers and teens. These workshops are designed to help parents qualify what a healthy food is so that they can make their own informed decisions about what foods are best for their family.
Based on the principles of Nourishing Traditions and the Weston A Price Society there will be lots of cooking demonstrations, practical tips and recipes. Joanna and myself also provide you with a delicious organic lunch.
We’ve decided to run them on Sundays to make it easier for dad to babysit while mum comes along to be educated, inspired and nourished mentally, physically and emotionally. Of course dads are welcome too and we hope to see lots of men attending the workshops.
Topics covered on the day include:
- Managing your child’s behavioural problems with diet
- Building a strong immune, digestive and nervous system with nourishing foods and nutrients
- Why modern dietary advice is creating a generation of sick kids
- The Standard Australian Diet (SAD) and how to move your family to a Bronze, Silver or Gold diet
- Dealing with fussy eaters
- Coping with sceptical grandparents, aunties, uncles and friends
- The importance of ‘good bacteria’ and how to prepare your own probiotic foods at home
- Essential nutrients for growing children
- How to tell if your child is deficient in key nutrients
- Why “healthy” foods can be unhealthy
- Dealing with food allergies and intolerances
